Physical Education

At Kilburn Grange School, we deliver a high-quality Physical Education (PE) curriculum that inspires all pupils to learn, enjoy and succeed. Our aim is to develop physically confident children who understand the importance of an active lifestyle and its positive impact on both physical and mental wellbeing. For this reason, Healthy Champions is one of our six key curriculum drivers.

Our Vision

Our vision is to engage all pupils in sustained physical activity, helping them to build character and develop lifelong values such as fairness, respect and teamwork. We aim to develop competence across a broad range of sports while providing opportunities to compete both within school and against other schools.

Curriculum Aims

In line with the National Curriculum for Physical Education, our PE programme enables pupils to:

  • Develop competence and confidence across a wide range of physical activities

  • Be physically active for sustained periods of time

  • Engage in competitive sports and activities

  • Lead healthy, active lifestyles

Our PE Offer

PE at Kilburn Grange School is both challenging and enjoyable. Pupils take part in a wide variety of activities, including:

  • Invasion games

  • Net and wall games

  • Striking and fielding games

  • Gymnastics

  • Dance

  • Swimming

Teaching and learning are supported by the Get Set 4 PE scheme of work, ensuring progression, consistency and high-quality outcomes across the school.

Specialist Teaching and Enrichment

PE is taught across all classes by our specialist sports coach, who also delivers a range of after-school sports clubs. Through engaging and motivating lessons, we encourage all children to participate, develop skills and achieve success in PE.

Sporting Success

We are especially proud that dodgeball is our flagship school sport. Our pupils train with enthusiasm and teamwork, and their commitment has led to outstanding success, including a 4th place finish in the National Dodgeball Competition last year, a remarkable achievement that reflects their dedication and sporting spirit.

School Games Mark

We are proud to have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the past three consecutive years. This recognition reflects our strong commitment to high-quality PE, inclusive participation, competitive sport and promoting healthy, active lifestyles for all pupils.
